The Storm Whale-Year 1

This morning I introduced our new writing unit to the class. Wrens will be learning to write their own version of a familiar story, which is based on 'The Storm Whale' by Benji Davies.

The Storm Whale is a story about a little boy called Noi, who finds a whale washed up on the beach one day. He thinks about what he should do to keep the whale safe. (I won't write anymore in case you would like to read it!)

When I read the book to Wrens this morning, they put themselves in the main character Noi's shoes, and showed me their facial expressions to demonstrate how Noi would be feeling throughout the story. I then asked children to freeze, and as I tapped their head they spoke as if they were Noi.

I was impressed with how children really thought about how the character would react to each situation!

Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises fifteen Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
