Supporting from home

We believe that the best way to educate our children is in partnership with parents and carers.

Research across the world supports this view and shows that children who benefit from a close partnership between school and home perform much better at primary school and consequently do well at high school, achieving the best grades. Our own experience bears this out- children whose parents are able to spend time with their children reading to them, hearing them read, taking them to the library or helping them research topics that interest them- tend to do much better at school. We have talked at length with staff, parents and children about the best approach to supporting parents with learning at home and hope that our new home learning strategy is successful in achieving this.

We have produced a Reading Strategy Guide for Parents, which provides information about our Reading Bands, what we do at school and what parents can do to support at home.

At the beginning of each term, the teachers will send home a Term-on-a-Page, outlining the topics that are being covered in English, mathematics and in topic work, suggesting activities that you could do at home to support and extend your child's skills and knowledge.

Autumn 2021

We understand the importance of preparing the children for the rigours of high school homework, so children in year 6 are given additional English and mathematics homework, which we will mark. This might be part of after-school booster sessions.

Our Schools

Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises fifteen Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
